Overton Battles Back for Needmore Top Ten
(May
15, 2022) The #97 team invaded Needmore Speedway
in Norman Park, Georgia on Saturday, May 14 for the
annual running of the 'Gene Maine Memorial.' The Crate
Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series presided over the
single-day throwdown in the Peach State and 39 competitors
signed into the pit area to vie for the $10,000 top
prize. Cody Overton stopped the clock ninth quickest
in Group A during the qualifying session prior to
placing second in his B-Main. After rolling off from
the inside of the eighth row in the 50-lap headliner,
Cody had vaulted all the way up to fifth in the running
order before suffering an untimely flat tire. The
Evans, Georgia ace was then forced to rally from the
tail to salvage a ninth place performance in the 'Gene

Makes Late Dash to Swainsboro; Finishes Second!
(May
1, 2022) After the big Open Wheel Modified
special was washed out at East Bay (FL) Raceway Park,
Cody Overton made a late dash north to Swainsboro Raceway
in Swainsboro, Georgia on Saturday, April 30. The annual
'Pinetree 100' was held last night at Swainsboro and
a $3,000 paycheck was up for grabs for the Crate Late
Models. Cody stopped the clock fourth quickest overall
during the qualifying session to earn the outside of
the second row for the start of the A-Main. At the checkers,
the Evans, Georgia ace had moved all the way up to second
to finish behind only victor John Ruggiero, Jr. Complete

Overton Competes in Florida Dirt Nationals
(April
24, 2022) The April 22-23 weekend saw Cody Overton
and the #97 team venture to All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville,
Florida for the two-day 'Florida Dirt Nationals,' which
was sanctioned by the XR Super Series. In the $25,000
to win weekend opener on Friday night, Cody broke a rear
end in his heat race before winding up ninth in his B-Main.
At All-Tech on Saturday evening in the $50,000 to win
grand finale, Cody ran sixth in both his heat race and
his B-Main. Unfortunately, the Evans, Georgia ace was
unable to crack the starting grid for either of the main
events at the Sunshine State speedplant. Complete results

Up to Second in Cotton Tail 60 Before Troubles
(April
17, 2022) The Jeff Mathews Motorsports team and
driver Cody Overton invaded Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick,
Georgia on Saturday, April 16. The 604 Crate Late Models
raced for a $10,000 top prize in the 'Cotton Tail 60.' Cody
laid down the fifteenth fastest lap overall during the qualifying
session before running fifth in heat race action. After
rolling off from the inside of the tenth row in the 60-lap
headliner, Cody blasted all the way up to second and was
looking for the win when he unfortunately suffered terminal
motor problems late in the feature distance. The Evans,
Georgia ace was officially paid for a ninth place performance

Hangs on for Top Ten in Greenville Special
(April
10, 2022) The #97 Jeff Mathews Motorsports team ventured
to Greenville Speedway on April 8-9 for the two-day 'Rumble
on the Gumbo,' which was sanctioned by the Crate Racin' USA
Series. On Friday night during preliminary action, Cody Overton
knocked down the sixth quickest lap in his group during qualifying
- despite making hard contact and riding the wall on his first
lap - and later rallied to grab the fourth and final transfer
spot through his heat race. After rolling off from the outside
of the eighth row in Saturday's 60-lap headliner, Cody had his
sights set on climbing through the field to capture the $10,000
windfall. The Evans, Georgia ace vaulted all the way up to fifth
in the running order before a late right front flat tire caused
him to limp home in the ninth finishing position. Complete results

Team Rained Out at East Bay Raceway Park
(April
3, 2022) Due to the amount of rain that fell on Thursday
evening and Friday morning, as well as the dooming forecast for
additional rain, the racing program for Saturday, April 2 at East
Bay Raceway Park has been cancelled. The scheduled $2,500 to win
'Donnie Tanner Memorial' 50-lap main for the 604 Late Models has
been rescheduled for Saturday, May 14 at the Gibsonton, Florida
oval. Next up for Cody Overton and the Jeff Mathews Motorsports
(JMM) team will be a trip to Greenville, Mississippi with the
Crate Racin' USA Series on April 8-9. The two-day show at Greenville
Speedway will be headlined by a $10,000 to win feature next Saturday
evening!

Luck for Cody Overton in Rock Gault Memorial
(March
27, 2022) Cody Overton and the #97 team invaded the "Place
Your Momma Warned You About" on March 25-26, as the World
of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series presided over the
'Rock Gault Memorial.' On Friday night at Cherokee Speedway in
the weekend opener, which shelled out a $10,000 payday, Cody stopped
the clock fifteenth quickest in Group A during qualifying before
finishing seventh in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main. At
the historic Gaffney, South Carolina facility on Saturday evening
in the $20,000 to win grand finale, Cody timed in sixteenth fastest
in Group A prior to running seventh in his heat race and sixth
in his B-Main once again. Unfortunately, the Evans, Georgia standout
was unable to crack the feature starting grid on both occasions.

Sixth in Shamrock at Boyd's Speedway
(March
20, 2022) Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) and driver Cody
Overton trekked north on I-75 to Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold,
Georgia on Saturday, March 19 for the annual running of the 'Shamrock'
race. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series presided over the single-day
throwdown at the Chattanooga-area oval and 42 competitors showed
up to do battle for the $5,000 top prize. Cody laid down the third
fastest lap in Group B during the qualifying session, which locked
him into the outside of the third row for the start of the 40-lap
headliner. The driver known as "Lil' Sexy" then fought
hard for a top five showing in the contest before landing in the
sixth finishing position of the 'Shamrock' behind only victor
Ricky Weiss, Payton Freeman, Jimmy Owens, Cory Hedgecock, and
