Overton Strong in Alabama State Championship!

(September 19, 2022) Cody Overton, of Evans, Georgia, was ultra-busy over the September 17-18 weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The 50th Annual 'Alabama State Championship' races were held over the weekend at EAMS and a $5,000 winner's check was up for grabs in the 604 Crate Late Model division. Cody clicked off the twelfth quickest lap in Group B during qualifying on Saturday before starting the 40-lap feature on Sunday from the outside of the twelfth row. He then stormed through the pack and just missed out on a top five performance, as he crossed underneath the checkered flag in the sixth finishing position.

In Super Late Model action over the weekend, the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) presided over a pair of $4,050 to win battles to celebrate the 50th Annual 'Alabama State Championship.' On Saturday, Cody laid down the seventh fastest time in Group B during qualifying and later picked off ten competitors during the 40-lapper to land in the fourth spot behind only victor Kenny Collins, Austin Horton, and J.R. Moseley. At EAMS in the finale on Sunday, Cody stopped the clock third quickest in Group A during time trials prior to blasting all the way up to second in the 40-lap headliner en route to an impressive runner-up effort behind only race winner Wil Herrington! Cody Overton Cashes $5,000 at Natural Bridge!

(September 5, 2022) Evans, Georgia ace Cody Overton racked up his fifth checkered flag of the 2022 campaign on Friday night, September 2 at Natural Bridge Speedway in Natural Bridge, Virginia! Cody earned Fast Time honors during American Pro Late Model All-Star Series qualifying and later ran second in the fast dash. He then led the final thirteen circuits of the 50-lap headliner to pocket the $5,000 first place prize money over a top five that included runner-up Josh Dietz, Kyle Hardy, Benji Hicks, and Logan Roberson!

The #97 team then followed the American Pro Late Model All-Star Series to Beckley Motor Speedway in Mount Hope, West Virginia on Saturday evening, September 3 for a $10,000 to win throwdown. Cody placed third in his loaded heat race before passing eight competitors during the 'Back the Blue '76' en route to a solid eighth place showing. In Sunday's weekend finale at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina, Cody laid down the fourth quickest lap in Crate Late Model qualifying and later advanced up to third during the 20-lap feature to land on the podium behind only $1,200 victor Dillon Brown and runner-up John Ruggiero, Jr.! Overton Fourth in Stephen Wragg Memorial!

(August 14, 2022) Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) and driver Cody Overton wound up at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia on Saturday night, August 13 for the 'Stephen Wragg Memorial.' The unsanctioned Limited Late Model special boasted a $5,800 top prize and Cody started off the evening by laying down the eighth quickest lap overall during qualifying. Armed with an underpowered Crate motor, Cody was still able to vault forward during the 58-lapper and was officially placed fourth in the final finishing order behind only victor Frankie Beard, Matt Long, and Kenny Collins! Cody Overton Ninth at Swainsboro Raceway...

(August 7, 2022) Cody Overton, of Evans, Georgia, and Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) returned to action on Saturday night, August 6 at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia. The team competed in the 604 Crate Late Model portion of the weekly program at the Peach State oval. Cody stopped the clock third fastest overall during the qualifying session to earn the inside of the second row for the start of the A-Main. Unfortunately, Cody slid back a few spots during the course of the contest and ultimately wound up ninth at the unfurling of the checkered flag. Pair of Top Fives for Lil' Sexy in UCRA Action

(July 31, 2022) Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) and driver Cody Overton invaded the state of Alabama with the UCRA Series for a pair of $3,000 to win throwdowns on July 29-30. On Friday night at Penton Motor Speedway in Penton, Alabama, Cody placed fourth in the 50-lapper behind only race winner Chase Edge, Dylan Knowles, and Jake Traylor. At the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama on Saturday evening, Cody started fifth on the grid and drove to the front to lead the middle stages of the contest. Unfortunately, a flat tire sent him to the rear of the field, but the Evans, Georgia ace was able to blitz back through the pack with fresh rubber to salvage a third place podium performance behind only victor Joseph Brown and runner-up Mario Gresham. Overton Rallies for Impressive Runner-Up at GIS!

(July 27, 2022) Lil' Sexy Cody Overton and the JMM team had a busy past few days racing across the Peach State with the Crate Racin' USA tour and the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series. On July 22-23, a $10,000 winner's check was on the line at Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Georgia. Cody clicked off the fourth fastest lap in his group during qualifying on Friday night before finishing sixth in his heat race. After grabbing the second transfer spot through his B-Main on Saturday evening, Cody blitzed past seventeen competitors in the 'Ray Miller Memorial' to bring home an impressive runner-up effort behind only victor Mark Whitener!

Following a rain-out of a $10,053 to win Southern Nationals showdown on Sunday at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia, the team headed to Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia with the series on Tuesday, July 26 for the track's 67th Anniversary race. (July 17, 2022) The Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) team ventured to Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia on Saturday night, July 16. The Crate Racin' USA Series rolled into the Atlanta-area venue and a $3,000 top prize was up for grabs. Cody Overton earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session and later started the 50-lapper from the outside of the front row. Overton Seventh at Lavonia; Runner-Up at Swainsboro

(July 3, 2022) Cody Overton and Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) headed to Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia and Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia on July 1-2 for a pair of events. On Friday night at Lavonia in a $4,000 to win Ultimate Super Late Model Series clash, Cody timed in eleventh quickest overall during qualifying and later picked off four competitors during the 40-lapper en route to a solid seventh place showing in the 'Max King Memorial.' In Saturday's $2,500 to win Southern Clash Late Model Series shootout at Swainsboro, Cody posted the fourth fastest lap during qualifying, but a flat tire in the feature sent him to the tail end of the field. 'Lil Sexy Strolls to Top Five in Summer Kickoff

(June 26, 2022) The Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) team and driver Cody Overton invaded Sumter Speedway in Sumter, South Carolina on Saturday night, June 25, as the Ultimate Super Late Model Series presided over an event dubbed as the 'Summer Kickoff.' Cody stopped the clock thirteenth fastest overall during the qualifying session, which locked him into the inside of the seventh row for the start of the $5,000 to win headliner. During the course of the 40-lap affair, Cody steered past eight competitors en route to a strong fifth place performance behind only race winner Zack Mitchell, Steve Banal, Banjo Duke, and Austin Mintz! Overton Wins Crate Late Model Duel at EAMS!

(June 19, 2022) Cody Overton, of Evans, Georgia, celebrated in victory lane for the fourth time in 2022 on Saturday night, June 18 at the storied East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama! Behind the wheel of his #97 Crate Late Model, Cody clicked off the fourth quickest lap overall during the qualifying session to earn the outside of the second row for the start of the 25-lapper. Cody then grabbed the point on the fifth circuit and led the remainder of the race to pocket the $1,500 payday over a top five that included runner-up Lavon Sparks, Dusty Jones, Landon Bagby, and Chase Edge!

At EAMS in Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) competition, Cody also vied for the $5,050 top prize behind the wheel of a Super Late Model. "Lil Sexy" stopped the clock second fastest in Group A during qualifying and later secured a heat race triumph. After starting the 50-lapper from the pole position and leading laps 8-29, a broken brake line caused Cody to slip back to sixth at the waving of the checkered flag. Overton Makes First Eldora Visit for Million & Dream

(June 12, 2022) The lucrative 'Eldora Million' and 'Dirt Late Model Dream' were next on the racing calendar for Cody Overton, as the #97 team trekked to the famed Eldora Speedway from June 8-11. Following a washout at the Rossburg, Ohio facility on Wednesday night, the entire 'Eldora Million' program was contested on Thursday. During the daytime $12,000 to win preliminary event, Cody finished fourteenth in his heat race and fifteenth in his B-Main. At night in the $1,002,022 to win 'Million' headliner, Cody placed sixteenth in his stacked heat race and was unable to transfer his Longhorn Chassis into the B-Main.

When the weekend rolled around in the Buckeye State, the attention turned to the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' In the preliminary show on Friday evening, Cody ran thirteenth in both his heat race and his B-Main. At Eldora on Saturday evening in the $128,000 to win 'Dirt Late Model Dream,' Cody once again finished thirteenth in his loaded heat race and was not able to compete in the B-Main. In his first visit to the storied oval, the Evans, Georgia ace was able to gain a lot of valuable laps and experience even though he was unfortunately unable to crack an A-Main starting grid. (June 5, 2022) The Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) team and driver Cody Overton made their way to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky and Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tennessee on June 3-4 for a pair of Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series contests. On Friday night in a $7,500 to win shootout at Ponderosa, Cody ran fourth in his loaded heat race before moving up to finish sixth in the 40-lap headliner. At Mountain View on Saturday evening, Cody clicked off the third quickest lap in Group A during qualifying prior to advancing up to third in the 40-lapper to land on the podium behind only $5,000 victor Jadon Frame and runner-up Kyle Courtney! Overton Sixth in Holiday Weekend Opener at Boyd's

(May 31, 2022) Cody Overton and the Jeff Mathews Motorsports (JMM) team ventured to the states of Georgia and Tennessee over the Memorial Day holiday weekend to compete in a trio of special events from May 28-30. On Saturday night at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia and on Sunday evening at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee, a $5,053 top prize was on the line with the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals tour. Cody timed in fourth quickest in Group A during qualifying at Boyd's prior to advancing up to sixth by the finish of the 40-lap headliner. At Duck River, Cody stopped the clock fifth fastest in Group A during time trials and later claimed an eleventh place showing in the 40-lapper.

The triple shot of holiday weekend action then wrapped up on Monday at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series presided over the annual running of the 'Scott Sexton Memorial' and a $10,052 winner's check was up for grabs. Cody placed sixth in his stacked heat race and fifth in his B-Main to advance into the 52-lap feature event. The Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series presided over the single-day throwdown in the Peach State and 39 competitors signed into the pit area to vie for the $10,000 top prize. Cody Overton stopped the clock ninth quickest in Group A during the qualifying session prior to placing second in his B-Main. After rolling off from the inside of the eighth row in the 50-lap headliner, Cody had vaulted all the way up to fifth in the running order before suffering an untimely flat tire.
